Remove the swing motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Swing Motor - Remove".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Thoroughly clean the area around the swing drive prior to removal.

Open drain valve (1). Drain the oil from swing drive (2) into a suitable container. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Swing Drive Oil - Change".

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove bolts (3).

Attach Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to swing drive (2). The weight of swing drive (2) is approximately 510 kg (1125 lb).

Remove the two plugs from the threaded holes in the swing drive housing. Install Tooling (C) in each threaded hole in the swing drive housing. Use Tooling (C) in order to separate swing drive (2).
Remove swing drive (2). Note: Be careful not to damage pinion gear.
