This illustrates measuring liner height projection.Use a 7F1857 Liner Puller Assembly with an 8S3611 Adapter Plate to remove liner (1). Clean the counterbore in cylinder block.Install seals (2) on liner (1). Coat seals and mating bore with liquid soap before installing liner. Position liner in bore chamfer. Place an 8S3611 Adapter Plate on top of liner. Use a block of hard wood over adapter and drive liner into place. Secure the liner in its bore using the crossbar from an 8B7548 Push Puller and two 5/8" NC bolts with flat washers. Tighten the bolts evenly to 50 lb. ft. (6,9 mkg). Use a 6F6922 Depth Micrometer to measure liner projection. Measure down from the liner surface contacting the head gasket, to the face of the cylinder block. Liner projection must be .001 - .005 in. (0,02 - 0,12 mm).3 Use 7S9470 Piston Ring Expander to remove and install rings on piston.4 Use 7S9417 Piston Ring Compressor to install pistons in cylinder liners.5 Clean orifice thoroughly. Check orifice by passing a .090 in. (2,28 mm) drill rod through opening.6 Install thrust plates with the words "Block Side" next to the block.7 Use an 8B7548 Push Puller, 8H684 Ratchet Box Wrench and 8B7551 Pulling Attachment to remove gear. Refer to the GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS. At installation, heat gear to 600° F. (315° C.) maximum. Align letter "C" on Crankshaft gear with letter "C" on Camshaft gear.8 Use 5B1161 Wire to measure main bearing clearance.9 Tighten connecting rod bolt nuts in the following Step sequence:
