Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: The Illustrations that are shown in this procedure are of a cylinder head from a diesel engine. The procedure is similar.

Put the cylinder head in position on Tool (A).
Install new O-ring seals on the two plugs (2) and the two plugs (3).
Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seals. Install the plugs in the cylinder head. Use Tool (B) to install the bridge dowel plug.

Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seals. Install two plugs (4) and two plugs (5).
Repeat Step 4 for the opposite side of the cylinder head.

Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal. Install the plug (6).

Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seal. Install the plug (7).
Put clean engine oil on the O-ring seals. Install any other plugs that may have been removed.

Set the gap on the spark plug (15) to 0.64 0.04 mm (0.025 0.002 inch). Do not install the spark plug at this time. When you install the plug, tighten the torque to 38 2 N m (28.0 1.5 lb ft).
Do not install the following components in the cylinder head until the cylinder head is mounted on the cylinder block: extension (14), fitting (13), and the grommet.

Put clean engine oil on the outside of the valve guide (8). Use Tool (C) and a hammer to install the valve guide (8) in the cylinder head. Be careful not to damage the cylinder head with the hammer. Install the four valve guides (8) until the valve guides extend 20 2 mm (0.79 0.08 inch) (X) above the cylinder head.
After installation, the inside diameter of a new valve guide must be 16.031 0.028 mm (0.6311 0.0011 inch)
