Use a 12.7 mm (0.5 inch) flat bottom bit and a vertical mill.

Cut slots for the inner piston seals and cut slots for the outer piston seals for each clutch piston. Place the slots equally around the circumference. The slot should go all the way through the top edge of the seal groove for the piston. Refer to Table 2 for the number of slots and depth of the slots.

( 1 ) In-line with reaction dowelsNote: Make sure that the cutting bit does not touch the back edge of seal groove for the piston. Scuffing on the back edge or on the bottom of the seal groove will reduce the life of the seal.
If necessary, deburr the edge of the slot that is in the seal groove of the piston. Do not scuff the back edge of the seal groove when you deburr the slot.The new pistons are effective with the following transmission serial numbers:
