Installation of the baffle plates inside the arch of the boom.5. Reaching inside the boom, cut the other end of the torque tube from the opposite side plate. Leave a smooth surface on the inside of the plate.6. Weld back-up strip (1) to the long edge of one plate (A).7. Weld this plate (A) with its back-up strip (1) to the far side of the boom. This plate is located 25 mm (1.0") to the rear of torque tube opening. See Section J-J. Weld all around the four sides of this plate.8. Weld the second plate (A) to the back-up strip on first plate (A), and finish weld the second plate in place inside the boom. Weld all around four sides of this plate.9. Weld the removed section of the side plate back in place and grind the welds smooth.10. Cut out a section of the side plate in front of the boom cylinder pivot. See illustration.11. Weld front plate (B) inside the boom at the location shown in Section M-M. Again, weld all around four sides of this plate.12. Tack weld back-up strip (2) to the front inside of the boom side plate, and tack weld strip (3) to the rear inside of the side plate. See Section M-M.13. Weld the removed side plate to the boom. Grind welds smooth.14. Apply antirust compound and paint all weld areas.
