(1) Rubber toric rings and all the surfaces in contact with the rings must be clean and dry at assembly. Apply a thin layer of oil on the contacting surfaces of the metal seal before installation. The seal rings must be assembled square with the bore. Do not bulge or twist the toric rings. (2) The idler on the right side of the machine must be assembled with the oil filler plug hole to the outside of the assembly. The idler on the left side of the machine must be assembled with the oil filler plug hole to the inside of the assembly. Before the pressure test, the idler must be rotated 10 full turns. Add 2.4 L (2.54 qt) of 8C-3698 Oil through the plug hole before installing the plug. Check for leaks with air pressure at 140 15 kPa (20 2 psi) for a minimum of 3 minutes. The idler must be at the recommended oil capacity after completing the check. (3) Apply SAE 30 oil to the bolt head, the threads, and the washer face. Tighten the four bolts to the following torque. ... 1850 200 N m (1365 145 lb ft) (4) The shaft must be installed with the punch on the end of the shaft in the indicated position. The notch in the shaft must be up.
