Place the transmission in the NEUTRAL position. Engage the parking brake.Adjustment Procedure

Connect Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) to the diagnostic connector (1) which is to the right and behind the seat.

Start ET. When ET initializes, select the engine ECM from the choices that are available. Refer to Illustration 2.

Select "Engine Configuration Parameters". Ensure that "Engine Fan Reversing Feature" is set to "Enabled". If the feature is disabled, select "Engine Fan Reversing Feature" and press the "Change" button. If the feature is enabled, proceed to Step 5.

Select "Enabled" from the drop-down menu. Press the "OK" button.
Select "Engine Fan Purge Cycle Interval". The default value is 1200 seconds (20 minutes). Press the "Change" button in order to adjust the interval. The interval can be set to a minimum of 180 seconds (3 minutes). The maximum interval is 3600 seconds (1 hour).
After the interval is adjusted, exit ET. Disconnect ET from the machine.
