FASTENER 6R7999 - Caterpillar

1. Remove the bolts that hold the front hinges (1) to the cab of truck. Slide the hinge off the pin on the hood. Remove the rear hinge. 2. Fasten a hoist to hood (2) as shown. Remove the hood from the truck. Weight of the hood is 100 lb. (45.4 kg).
To make sure strap does not fall off catch on hood, a 5/16"-18 NC bolt and nut must be used to hold the strap.
Install Hood
1. Fasten a hoist to the hood (1) as shown. Install the bolt that holds the rear hinge to the truck.2. Put the hood in position on the truck. Put the rear pin of the hood in position in the rear hinge. 3. Install the front hinge on the pin in the hood and install bolts (2) that hold the front hinge to the cab of the truck.4. Install all the bolts in the two hood hinges.
