Pump Components
(1) Wing nut. (2) Lock washer. (3) Flat washer. (4) Reservoir cover. (5) Stud. (6) Screws. (7) Baffle. (8) Hex nut. (9) Return line baffle. (10) Reinforcing plate. (11) Reservoir. (12) Gasket. (13) Screws. (14) Pin. (15) Cover. (16) Spring. (17) Control valve. (18) O-ring. (19) Plug. (20) Spring. (21) Pressure plate. (22) Pins. (23) Cam ring. (24) Rotor. (25) Vanes. (26) O-ring. Before starting disassembly, obtain the seal kit for the pump. The part number for the seal kit is located in the Parts Book for the machine.
Use a bearing puller to remove the pulley at the end of the drive shaft when removing the pump from the machine. Do not hammer the pulley off. This could damage the pump and the pulley.
1. Drain the oil out of reservoir (11). Do not reuse this oil. The pump should be refilled with clean oil after assembly.2. Plug the open ports of the pump to prevent contaminants from entering.3. Wash the pump exterior with mineral spirits or solvent. Perform the disassembly in a clean work area.4. Clamp the mounting flange of the pump body in a vise. Use caution to prevent distorting any parts of the pump.5. Remove wing nut (1), lock washer (2), and flat washer (3) from reservoir cover (4).6. Lift reservoir cover (4) off of reservoir (11).7. Remove two screws (6) and baffle (7) from inside reservoir (11).8. Loosen nut (8) at the bottom of stud (5). Turn the stud and nut out of reservoir (11).9. Lift return line baffle (9) and reinforcing plate (10) out of the reservoir.10. Separate reservoir (11) and gasket (12) from the rest of the pump. Discard gasket (12). This will be replaced with a new part during assembly.11. Remove four screws (13) from cover (15).
Do not attempt to pry the pump body and cover apart with force. This will likely damage pump components.
12. Lightly tap cover (15) and body (28) with a plastic hammer to loosen the cover. Support the cover to prevent parts from falling.13. Remove cover (15) from the pump.14. Remove spring (20) and pressure plate (21) from body (28).
Note the orientation of cam ring (23). The arrow on the side of the cam ring points in the direction of drive shaft rotation. The cam ring must be installed in this same position during pump assembly.
15. Slide cam ring (23) with installed rotor (24) and vanes (25) off of body (28).16. Separate rotor (24) and vanes (25) from cam ring (23).17. Drive two pins (22) from cam ring (23).18. Discard o-rings (26) and (27). These will be replaced with new parts during assembly.19. Drive pin (14) out of cover (15) with a pin punch. Take care to prevent control valve components from falling out of the cover.20. Remove plug (19), control valve (17), and spring (16) from cover (15). These parts may be pushed
