Schematic for the Tilt Linkage Position SensorThis diagnostic code is recorded when the implement ECM determines that the voltage for the tilt linkage position sensor has an open circuit. The diagnostic code is recorded when the sensor is shorted to the + battery. The tilt linkage position sensor is a PWM sensor. The signal wire for the tilt linkage position sensor connects to connector contact J2-14 (wire H718-GY) of the ECM.The possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed:
A shorted harness
An open circuit
A failed sensor
The ECM has failed. This is unlikely.System Response:The machine response is listed:
Implement features will not work.
When the active fault is removed, the implement features will work correctly.Note: Ensure that the diagnostic code is active and that the diagnostic code indicator is active.Note: The following procedure can create numerous related diagnostic codes. Reconnect all harnesses. Then, the related diagnostic codes will be shown as being NOT active. Complete the following procedure. Then, clear all of the related diagnostic codes.Test Step 1. CHECK FOR POWER AT THE SENSOR.
Do not disconnect the harness connector from the sensor.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the ON position.
At the harness connector for the sensor, measure the voltage from contact A to contact B. Use the 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes .Expected Result:The voltage is the system voltage. Results:
OK - The voltage is system voltage. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage is not system voltage. The + battery circuit in the machine harness has failed.Repair: Replace the machine harness or repair the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 2. CHECK FOR PROPER GROUND AT THE SENSOR.
The machine harness remains connected to the sensor.
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
At the harness connector for the sensor, measure the resistance from contact B to frame ground. Use the 7X-1710 Multimeter Probe .Expected Result:The resistance is less than 5 ohms. Results:
OK - The resistance is less than 5 ohms. The ground circuit is correct. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance is greater than 5 ohms. The ground circuit in the machine harness has failed.Repair: Replace the machine harness or repair the machine harness. Stop.Test Step 3. CHECK THE WIRING HARNESS OF
