Use the following procedure in order to adjust the bearings:
Adjust the bearing end play within 0.030 mm to 0.130 mm (0.0012 inch to 0.0051 inch).
Use the 25.4 mm (1.00 inch) gauge block in order to measure the depth in three places.
Tighten the six bolts (4) to a torque of 18 N m (160 lb in) while you are rotating the roller.
Loosen the six bolts (4) and tighten bolts (4) again to a torque of 9 N m (80 lb in) while you are rotating the roller.
Measure the distance between the face of the gauge block and the end of the spindle with the depth micrometer. Take an average of the three measurements.
Take an average of the three measurements from Step 5 minus the gauge block from Step 2. Then, add 0.20 mm (0.008 inch) to the shims.
Remove the gauge block and install shims (6).
Install the two lock plates (5).
Tighten the six bolts (4) to a torque of 92 N m (70 lb ft).
Bend up the two lock plates (5) against the flat side of the bolt head. (6) As required, use the following shims: 7R-0229 Shim Quantity ... 6Thickness of one shim ... 0.13 mm (0.005 inch) 7R-0230 Shim Quantity ... 6Thickness of one shim ... 0.18 mm (0.007 inch) 7R-0231 Shim Quantity ... 10Thickness of one shim ... 0.51 mm (0.020 inch)
