Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may be harmful to your health. Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
Walk-Around Inspection
For maximum service life of the machine, make a thorough walk-around inspection before mounting the machine to start the engine.Check that the steering frame locks are not installed. The machine will not steer if the steering frame locks are installed.Look around and under the machine for items such as loose or missing bolts, trash build-up, oil, coolant or fuel leaks and broken or worn parts.Refer to the topic "Walk Around Inspection" in the "Maintenance Section" for detailed walk-around inspection information.Check all oil, coolant and fuel levels. Refer to the topic "Every 10 Service Hours or Daily" in the "Maintenance Section" for more detailed information. If necessary, turn the disconnect switch ON. The disconnect switch is normally left on except when it is necessary to completely de-energize the electrical circuits for servicing or when leaving the machine for an extended period, such as a month or longer. Check your seat and steering column positions. Adjust if necessary.Fasten the seat belt.Turn the engine start key switch to energise the electrical circuits. Do not start the engine. Check the indicator panel. The following indicators should be illuminated.Low Steering Pump Pressure (1)Engine Oil Pressure (2)Brake Oil Pressure (3)Parking Brake (4)Alternator (5)If any of these indicators are not illuminated, the cause must be traced and rectified before starting the engine or moving the machine. Brake oil pressure indicator (3) will not be illuminated if the brake system is already charged from previous machine operation. Check this by operating the service brake pedal several times. Indicator (3) should illuminate when sufficient brake pressure is relieved.
