Rotate the final drive until the drain plug is at the bottom.
Drain the final drive oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Final Drive - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.
Remove the outer axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle - Remove and Install".
Illustration 1 g06321307Note: Tooling (A) must be installed to a depth of 25 mm (1.0 inch) to hold the planetary carrier.
Remove three equally spaced bolts (1) and install Tooling (A).
Remove the remaining bolts (1).

Position outer planetary carrier (2) away from the hub allowing enough room to install Tooling (B).
Install Tooling (B) and a suitable lifting device to outer planetary carrier (2). The weight of outer planetary carrier (2) is approximately 124 kg (273 lb).
Remove Tooling (A).Note: Inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3) are to stay in the hub while outer planetary carrier (2) is being removed.
Use a suitable pry bar at the bottom of outer planetary carrier (2) to help keep outer planetary carrier (2) aligned straight with the hub during the removal process.
Remove outer planetary carrier (2).

Remove O-ring seal (4) from outer planetary carrier (2).

Attach Tooling (C) to inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3). The weight of inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3) is approximately 52 kg (115 lb).
Use a suitable pry bar in the center of inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3) to help keep inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3) aligned straight with the hub during the removal process.
Remove inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3).

Remove thrust ring (5) and O-ring seal (6).

Remove lip seal (7).Installation Procedure
Install outer planetary carrier (2) and inner planetary carrier and sun gear (3) in the reverse order of removal.

Install lip seal (7) in the direction indicated in Illustration 7 towards the center of the machine.
Lubricate the lip of lip seal (7) with lubricant being sealed.
Tighten bolts (1) to a torque of 430 60 N m (320 45 lb ft).
