(1) Shim pack (2) Yoke assembly (3) Transfer gear (4) Bolt (5) Shim pack (6) Cup plug (7) Transfer gear (8) Cage assemblyNote: Apply Loctite 263 to all bolts prior to assembly.Note: Lubricate all seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed prior to assembly.Note: End play of transfer gear (3) can be measured on yoke assembly (2) .
Ensure that bolt (4) is tightened to a torque of 115 5 N m (85 4lb ft).
Use a dial indicator to measure end play of transfer gear (3). Add or subtract shims (1) to obtain an end play measurement of 0.15 0.05 mm (0.006 0.002 inch).
When, correct end play for transfer gear (3) has been achieved transfer gear (7) may now be adjusted.
Remove cage assembly (8). Remove plug cap (6) from cage assembly (8) .
Install cage assembly (8). Ensure that the bolts for cage assembly (8) are torqued to 60 5 N m (45 4 lb ft).
Use a dial indicator to measure end play of transfer gear (7). Add or subtract shims (5) to obtain an end play measurement of 0.15 0.05 mm (0.006 0.002 inch).
When correct end play for transfer gear (7) has been achieved remove cage assembly (8). Install plug cap (6) to cage assembly (8) .
Install cage assembly (8). Ensure that the bolts for cage assembly (8) are torqued to 60 5 N m (45 4 lb ft).
