Illustration 145 g03435301The "Tracking Loop & Positioning Engine" setting relates to a filter within the GPS receiver. The web page gives the customer the option to select which type of filter is being used in the GPS receiver. The selection has a minimal effect on VIMS and will not alter the use of the VIMS software. The default option is "Low Dynamic Tracking Loop with Kalman Filter". The options are as follows:
Low Dynamic Tracking Loop with Kalman Filter
Low Dynamic Tracking Loop without Kalman Filter
High Dynamic Tracking Loop
Receiver Default"Tracking Loop" relates to the GPS receivers ability to estimate the delay and phase of the incoming signal in order to better synchronize itself with the signal. Low Dynamic tracking loops may be more precise, while High Dynamic tracking loops are more suitable for applications that will involve high levels of acceleration.Adding a Kalman Filter will allow the GPS receiver to use predictions and calculations of uncertainty over time in order to provide more accurate values than single measurements alone.ECMINFO Tab
