PROBLEM
The existing 4325469/">432-5469 Friction Discs, in the transmission of certain 797F and 797F XQ Off-Highway Trucks, may have a maufacturing defect. If the existing friction discs fail it can result in loss of drive.

ACTION REQUIRED
Refer to the Disassembly and Assembly manual KENR8372 as required. Disassemble the transmission planetary group far enough to remove the friction discs from clutch 7. Complete the following steps for each disc removed from the transmisison:
1. Measure thickness in at least six places around the disc. If the thickness exceeds 7.13mm the disc must be replaced.
2. Using a pick or chisel, gently try to pry the friction material away from the disc core. Do this at several points around the ID, OD and friction material joints. This is not intended to be a destructive test. If any portion of the friction material can be separated from the core the disc must be replaced.
Reassemble the transmission and perform a bench test before returning to the machine. Refer to REHS3602 "Bench Test Procedure for a 797F Off-Highway Truck Transmission".
