Information:

Excavators ( 95V, 94L)Some cracks have been found in the boom towers on 245 Excavators with Serial Numbers 95V1 thru 470 and 94L1 thru 254. The cracks are more common in severe (heavy) applications, especially on front shovels. Starting with Serial Numbers 95V471-up and 94L255-up, improvements have been made to the boom towers to prevent the cracks. Machines with these later serial numbers have a different design upper frame and cab.
The boom towers on earlier 245 Excavators must be inspected for cracks at every service interval. If any cracks are found information about a field reinforcement group is available from your Division Service Manager.
Special Instruction Form No. SMHS7413 will be available in the near future. It will give complete installation instructions for a boom tower reinforcement group.
