PROBLEM:
The transmission engagement calibration is not required on G Series II Medium Wheel Loaders that are equipped with ECPC transmission controls. The powertrain control system and software have been modified from those used on the G-series so that the engagement calibration procedure is no longer necessary. The engagement calibration submodes are still accessible through Caterpillar Monitoring System; however, the desired pressure values displayed are incorrect. Additionally, the service literature was originally published with the incorrect transmission clutch engagement pressures and included the engagement calibration procedure.
The parts manual lists 190-6492 Software Group-Power Train and 190-6493 Service Group-Power Train. These part numbers are invalid.
SOLUTION: If a situation arises where transmission calibration is required, perform the fill calibration as described in the service literature. Do not attempt to perform the engagement calibration procedure. The correct transmission clutch engagement (top) pressures are:

The only way to adjust a clutch engagement pressure is to either adjust the transmission main relief pressure setting, which changes the pressure for all clutches, or replace the modulating valve. The transmission main relief pressure should also be set to 2725 ? 70 kPa (395 ± 10 psi).
The correct part numbers for powertrain software on all G Series II medium wheel loaders with ECPC transmission controls are 216-3416 Software Group-Power Train (available as a flash file in SISWeb) and 216-3417 Service Group-Power Train (available through the parts system).
The transmission fill calibration must be performed by using the 4C-8195 Service Tool. The transmission fill calibration cannot be performed by using ET.
