PARTS DISPOSITION
North American Dealers:
All 173-7439 Shaft As that were replaced due to failing inspection should be held for 30 days for possible return for engineering analysis. If the parts are to be returned "Send It Back" will generate a Parts Return Request (PRR). After 30 days handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Dealers Outside North America:
Handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling.
Rework Procedure
Refer to service manual "Disassembly and Assembly 525C, 535C and 545C Wheel Skidders Power Train (Media Number RENR8892) as necessary.
1. Remove the torque converter and transmission assembly from the machine.
2. Separate the torque converter and cover from the transmission and set aside.
3. Remove the first / third clutch group from the transmission.
4. Remove the output transfer gear and thrust washers (1) from the shaft. Use care to not damage the rotating seal rings at the end of the shaft.
5. Remove the first gear clutch hub and gear assembly (2) from the shaft. Use care to not damage the rotating seal rings at the end of the shaft.

6. Locate the shaft on the centers at each end of the shaft. Place a dial indicator with the tip in the fillet at the end of the output gear splines and rotate the shaft. Runout should not exceed 0.004" (0.102mm). Place a dial indicator with the tip on the bearing journal next to the output gear splines and rotate the shaft. Runout should not exceed 0.005" (0.127mm).

7. If the shaft passes the above inspection, it is fit for use. Reassemble in reverse order.
8. If the shaft does not pass the above inspection, completely disassemble the clutch group and transfer all parts to a new shaft, then reassemble in reverse order.
