Disassembly Procedure
Start By:
Remove the torque converter outlet relief valve. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Relief Valve (Torque Converter Outlet) - Remove". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Remove three O-ring seals (1) from torque converter outlet relief valve (2).

Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
Remove bolts (3), the washer, cover (4), and O-ring seal (5) from torque converter outlet relief valve (2).
Remove bolts (11), the washers, cover (10), and O-ring seal (9).
Remove spool assembly (6). Remove spring (8) and spacers (7).

Remove retaining ring (12), retainer (13), spring (14), and poppet (15) from spool (6).

Remove plug (16) and (17) from torque converter outlet relief valve (2). Remove O-ring seal (18), nipple assembly (19), and dust cap (20) from torque converter outlet relief valve (2).
