Make sure there is no spring pressure on the two front stops. Do not remove the recoil spring from the track roller frame until the pressure is released from the two front stops.
1. Fasten a hoist to the recoil spring. Remove bolts (2) from front stops (1). Remove front stops (1). 2. Remove recoil springs (3). The weight is 300 lb. (136 kg). The following steps are for installation of the recoil spring.
Make sure the press is equipped with guards to hold the spring assembly in position while it is under compression.
3. If a replacement of the recoil spring is to be made, put the recoil spring in a press and put the spring under compression. Remove nut (4) and slowly release the spring. The spring is under compression until the length of the spring is 31.61 .44 in. (802.9 11.2 mm).
Typical Example4. Put a new spring in position and put the spring under compression until the distance (X) is 24.75 in. (628.7 mm). Tighten nut (4) to hold the spring and retainers.5. Fasten a hoist and put recoil spring (3) in position in the track roller frame.6. Put front stops (1) in position and install bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 200 25 lb.ft.
