Diesel engine exhaust contains products of combustion which may cause personal injury.Always start and operate the engine in a well ventilated area, and, if in an enclosed area, vent the exhaust to the outside.
Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts.Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified.The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped.Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine.
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement.Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine.To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine.
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Rotate speed dial (4) to the MINIMUM position.
Move parking brake switch (2) to the ON position.
Move propel mode switch (3) to the PAVE position.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode in order to operate the screed lift system.

Move screed lift switch (5) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

Engage screed lock mechanism (6) on both sides of the machine.
Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Move the screed lift switch on the right instrument panel to the FLOAT position.Note: The screed lift switch on both instrument panels must be in the FLOAT position in order for the screed to lower.
After the screed rests on the screed lock mechanisms, move screed lift switch (5) to the HOLD position.

Move right screed extend switch (8) to the EXTEND position. Release the switch when the right screed extender is fully extended.
Move left screed extend switch (7) to the EXTEND position. Release the switch when the left screed extender is fully extended.

Move throttle control switch (9) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (10) to the OFF position.

Rotate auger (11) back and forth by hand.
Measure distance (X) that the auger moves along the outside edge of auger flight (11). The measurement should be 6.4 to 13 mm (0.25 to 0.5 in). If the measurement is outside the specified range, adjust the auger drive chain tension with the following procedure.

Loosen, but do not remove, four mounting bolts (12) .

Loosen lock nut (15) .
Hold lands of threaded rod (13). Turn adjusting nut (14) until the auger rotation is within the specified range.
Tighten lock nut (15) .
Tighten mounting bolts (12) .
