Remove components and hardware as required to access the welds.
Inspect attachment plates (A) and blocks (B) and surrounding areas for cracks on both sides of the frame. Note: Use dye penetrant (PT) or magnetic particle (MT) to identify the extent or damage and length of the necessary repair.
If a crack is found near an attachment block or plate, remove the affected part in order to make repairs. Repeat using dye penetrant (PT) or magnetic particle (MT) to identify the extent of damage. Excavate and fill any cracks as outlined in Special Instruction, REHS4441, "Procedure for the Inspection, Repair, and Component Replacement on the Frame of the 795F AC Off-Highway Truck".
Inspect the weld repair using magnetic particle and Ultra-sonic testing (UT).
Once the weld repair has been confirmed, reattach the block or plate to the frame.
Apply TIG Dress to the fillet weld toes of all plates (A) and blocks (B) shown in Illustration 3 and Illustration 2.
