Use a voltmeter to check the voltage between Terminal (1) on the starting motor and a suitable ground on the engine. The voltmeter must read battery voltage. If the reading is less than battery voltage, there is a fault in the wiring between the battery positive terminal and the starting motor.
Use a voltmeter to check the voltage between Terminal (1) and Terminal (2) on the starting motor. The voltmeter must read battery voltage. If the reading is less than battery voltage, there is a fault in the wiring between the battery negative terminal and the starting motor.Results:
All voltage readings are OK - There is a fault in the starting motor.Repair: Replace the starting motor. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Electric Starting Motor - Remove and Install".STOP
