When installing a new or remanufactured replacement transmission, remember that there are different serial number prefix transmissions are available. Although the two transmissions are almost identical, the arrangements differ slightly. The electrical harness and hardware have also changed in relation to monitoring the park brake pressure circuit.Note: The transmission case changes and parking brake controls (switches or sensors) cannot be reworked onto a transmission independent of one another. The ECM recognizes the transmission as having both updates or having neither. If the parts are mismatched, parking brake functionality or shift quality may be affected.Note: The Transmission ECM determines which vintage of transmission is installed in the machine by looking at the serial number configured in Cat ET. Both the parking brake control strategy and the transmission fill calibration procedure require the correct prefix to be entered in Cat ET to ensure proper function.(S/N: R3D) Parking Brake Pressure Switch

Scenario 1
Use this procedure for when a transmission with a parking brake pressure switch is removed and replaced with a transmission with a parking brake pressure sensor. This procedure is using 351-6624 Chassis Harness As and 436-2451 Transmission Harness As.
Use Cat ET to take a Product Status Report (PSR) download from the machine. Record the serial numbers of both transmissions prior to beginning any work. Use the serial number stamped plate on the transmission for verification.
Check the wiring harness on the transmission with the parking brake pressure sensor. Confirm that a parking brake pressure sensor is fitted. The harness for this sensor should have three wires, "T998 BR", "X800 OR", and "C491 PU".

Inspect the motor grader machine 23-pin harness "CONN 44". Confirm that wire "C491 PU" is not wired into the machine harness 23-pin plug (X).

Locate the two wires "T998 BR" and "X800 OR" at the Transmission ECM J1 plug, at pins 44 and 45. Splice the two wires and verify the location in plug "CONN 44"."T998 BR" will run from the Transmission ECM J1 pin 44, to "CONN 44" pin N."X800 OR" will run from the Transmission ECM J1 pin 45, to "CONN 44" pin O.
"C491 PU" will run from the Transmission ECM J2 pin 51, to "CONN 44" pin X. A new wire must be installed for the parking brake pressure sensor signal wire.
Connect the "CONN 44" connector
