Start By:a) remove crankcase guards *b) remove final drive planet carriers*This operation is in the Engine Disassembly and Assembly section. The removal and installation of the front and rear wheel assemblies and wheel brake assemblies are basically the same. The only difference is the tooling used to lift the machine.1. Put the parking brake in the engaged position and connect the safety link to the main frames of the machine.2. Put wood blocks in front of the front tires.3. Start the machine and lift the bucket approximately 12 in. (30.5 cm) off the floor. 4. Put tooling (A) under the rear main frame of the machine as shown. Lift the machine until the tires are off the floor.5. To lift the front of the machine, put wood block behind the rear tires. Put tooling (B) under the front main frame and lift the machine until the tires are off the floor. See Remove Tires and Rims for the correct location of tooling (B). 6. Remove nuts (1) and the washers that hold the tire and rim to the wheel assembly. 7. Use a lift truck to remove tire (2) and rim. Put the forks of the lift truck under the tire and rim. Fasten the tire and rim to the back rest as shown and remove the tire and rim. Weight of the unit is 3000 lb (1361 kg). 8. Remove tube assembly (4). Disconnect oil supply tube assembly (5) for the brakes.9. Fasten a hoist to the wheel assembly and wheel brake assembly. Remove nuts (3) and washer that hold the unit in position. 10. Remove wheel assembly and wheel brake assembly as a unit (6). Weight of the unit is 1500 lb (680.4 kg).Install Wheel Assemblies And Wheel Brake Assemblies
1. Fasten a hoist to the wheel assembly and wheel brake assembly. Put the unit (1) in position on the axle housing. Make sure the brake tube assemblies are in correct alignment with each other.2. Install the washers and nuts that hold the unit to the axle housing. Tighten the nuts to a torque of 640 80 lb ft (875 100 N m).3. Connect the brake supply tube assembly. Install the tube assembly for removal of the air (bleeding the brakes) from the brake system. 4. Install tire (2) and the rim on the wheel assembly with a lift truck. Install the nuts and washers that hold the unit in position. Tighten the nuts (3) to a torque of 350 35 lb ft (470 45 N m).5.
