Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to both sides of front axle (8). The weight of the front axle assembly is approximately 2330 kg (5138 lb).

Typical example
Raise the front axle assembly, leaving enough room to access hose assembly (15) .
Support the front axle assembly.
Connect hose assembly (15) .

Install the front axle assembly to the front frame.
Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of bolts (14) prior to installation. Install two bolts (14) and the washers. Tighten bolts (14) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft).
Repeat Step 6 for the other side of the front axle assembly.

Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the bolts prior to installation. Install the two bolts, the washers and two nuts (12). Tighten nuts (12) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft).
Install two locknuts (13). Tighten locknuts (13) to a torque of 430 65 N m (320 50 lb ft).
Repeat Step 8 and Step 9 for the other side of the front axle assembly.

Apply Tooling (B) to the threads of the bolts prior to installation. Install the three bolts, nut (9) and two locknuts (11). Tighten nut (9) and locknuts (11) to a torque of 900 100 N m (660 75 lb ft).
Install locknut (10). Tighten locknut (10) to a torque of 430 65 N m (320 50 lb ft).
Repeat Step 11 and Step 12 for the other side of the front axle assembly.

Install front drive shaft (6) to yoke (5) .
Apply Tooling (C) and then apply Tooling (D) to the threads of bolts (7) prior to installation.
Install four bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 150 15 N m (110 11 lb ft).

Connect hose assemblies (1), (2) and (3) .
Connect hose assembly (4) .
Fill the front differential and final drive assemblies. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Capacities (Refill)" for the capacity of the front axle housing and the final drive assemblies. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil (With Axle Oil Cooler) - Change" or Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Differential and Final Drive Oil (Without Axle Oil Cooler) - Change" for the correct filling procedure.
Purge the air from the braking system. Refer to Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting, Braking System, "Braking System Air - Purge".
Check the oil level of the hydraulic system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil Level - Check".End By:
