1. Start the machine and move it forward or to the rear until drain plug (3) is in the position shown.2. Drain the oil from the final drive.3. Remove bolts (1). Remove cover assembly (2). Check the O-ring seal in the cover for wear or damage. If necessary, make a replacement. 4. Install a 7/16"-14 NC forged eyebolt (4) in the end of the drive axle as shown. Pull drive axle out of the final drive approximately 15 in. (38.1 cm). Fasten a hoist to the drive axle. Remove drive axle (5). The weight of the drive axle is 75 lb. (34 kg). If the axle can not be removed, move the machine a small amount to the front or rear until the axle can be pulled from the final drive. 5. Remove retainer ring (6) from the axle shaft. Remove gear (7).Install Drive Axles (824C)
1. Make sure the axles are clean and free of dirt or foreign material. 2. Fasten a hoist to the drive axle. Put drive axle (1) in position in the final drive.3. Install gear (3) half way on the axle.4. Put a piece of pipe (2) which has a 2" (5.1 cm) outside diameter and is 24" (61.0 cm) long in the end of gear (3) as shown. Push down on the pipe and slide the drive axle into position. 5. Remove the pipe. Slide gear (3) into position in the final drive planetary.6. Install the retainer ring on the drive axle. 7. Install cover (4) on the wheel assembly.
