The 294-1723 Eye on the MHI C6.4 engine that is used on certain 320D, 321D and 323D hydraulic excavators, has the potential for cracks due to a resonance issue that is related to engine speed.

The new 324-4175 Eye (2) needs to be closely inspected prior to use in lifting or removing the engine for maintenance or repair. If any evidence of cracking or damage is detected, this lift eye for the engine needs to be replaced with the 324-4175 Eye . If dealer performed maintenance is conducted prior to the use of the 294-1723 Eye , it is recommended that you remove this eye from the engine to limit exposure to the resonance condition.
