The diagnostic mode provides a list of diagnostic codes. The diagnostic function has two different methods of viewing diagnostic codes. The machine operator can perform the following by using the key start switch, in the scrolling mode:
Access the diagnostic codes.
View the diagnostic codes.The service technician can perform the following by using a 4C-8195 Control Service Tool, in the Service mode:
View the diagnostic codes.
Scroll the diagnostic codes.
Clear the diagnostic codes.
Diagnostic Code Indicator - The symbol indicates that diagnostic codes are active on the machine or the service mode has been entered. The symbol is displayed on the right LCD. Diagnostic codes can be displayed on the instrument panel. The codes can be viewed when the panel is in the service mode. There are two methods for entering service mode.Scrolling Diagnostic Mode
The machine operator views the diagnostic codes in the scrolling diagnostic mode, in order to communicate the diagnostic information to a service technician. Scrolling mode only allows the codes to be viewed.The following procedure should be performed in order to view the scrolling mode.Begin by turning the key start switch to the OFF position. Verify the following in order to ensure that the IC is in the OFF state:
Gauges are at Zero position.
Machine service hour meter is displayed on the liquid crystal display.This ensures that the ECM has reset. Turn the key start switch to the ON position in order to initialize the Transmission/Chassis ECM. When the IC begins the self test function (sweep of the gauges), cycle the key start switch from the OFF position to the ON position three times within ten seconds. The ECM will be reset, if the key start switch is operated for more than three seconds. Then, leave the key in the ON position. The displays are used to show active diagnostic codes and logged diagnostic codes. Event codes are also displayed in scrolling mode. When an event code is displayed, the letter "E" is shown in the left display (2). When a diagnostic code is active, the letter "A" is shown in the left display (2). The MID is also shown on the left display . The CID and the FMI are shown on the right display (17). When a diagnostic code is inactive, only the code is shown. Each code is shown for several seconds. Then, the display will show the next code. After all the codes are shown, "---" will appear. The display will show all the codes again. The scrolling mode will exit after three loops of the codes have been completed or the key start switch is placed in the OFF position.Service Diagnostic Mode
