Information:

Wheel slipping can increase tire wear drastically. A great amount of wheel slipping can occur unnoticed by the operator. In rocky material, wheel slipping can cut and severely damage tires.
When push loading in these conditions, the transmission should be shifted to NEUTRAL. Keep the engine speed above 1500 rpm for good hydraulic control response. 9. Use the differential lock to prevent one wheel from slipping.
Do not try to turn the machine with the differential lock applied. The machine will not turn with the differential lock applied.
Do not engage the differential lock with one wheel spinning. Decrease engine rpm, until the wheel stops spinning, before depressing the pedal.
Refer to the topic "Differential Lock" under "Operator's Compartment."10. If the wheels slip in soft material reduce the engine speed and shift the transmission to NEUTRAL. Allow the pushing machine to do the work. 11. Gauge the most efficient depth of cut by the depth of the router bits. Use this depth on successive passes. 12. Regulate the apron opening to prevent material from piling in front of the lip or falling out of the bowl. 13. For efficient loading, keep the machine moving in a straight line. Keep the pusher in line with the machine.14. Do not overload the bowl. It lowers efficiency, and can cause machine overloading. 15. When the bowl is full, raise the bowl slowly to leave the cut smooth. Close the apron.
Maneuver around large objects to load or unload them. Driving over them could damage the transmission case.
16. Raise and lower the bowl rapidly to load loose material. When loaded, close the apron as the bowl is raised, to prevent spillage. 17. Allow the pusher to help the machine out of the cut area, if necessary. 18. Release the transmission hold and/or differential lock. Accelerate to travel speed as quickly as possible. Move the hitch control to CUSHION RIDE.Push-Pull Loading (657E Only)
1. Position the first machine in the cut. Move the hitch and bail control to LOCK DOWN. Allow room for the second machine to line up behind the first. 2. Start loading the first machine while the rear machine is maneuvering into position. Make sure the machines are in a straight line. 3. Move the rear machine's hitch and bail control to LOCK DOWN-BALL UP position, and approach the front machine.4. Contact the front scraper's push block gently. 5. Move the rear machine's hitch and bail control to LOCK DOWN-BAIL DOWN when contact is made. 6. Load the front machine first, using the rear machine for a pusher. 7. Raise the bowl of the front machine when it is loaded.8. Lower the rear machine's bowl, and continue the cut made by the front machine. The front machine will pull the rear machine when loading. While loading the rear machine, move the bail control to the BAIL UP-LOCK DOWN position. The bail will not raise while the machine is being pulled.9. Raise the rear scraper's bowl when it is loaded. 10. Ease the rear machine ahead. The bail
