Information:

START BY:a. remove transmission and transfer gears 1. Install tooling (A) and a hoist on the planetary assembly cover. Remove elbow (2) from between the transmission case and the transfer gear case. Remove bolts (3) that fasten transmission case (1) to the transfer gear case. Remove the transmission case and planetary group as a unit. The weight is 365 kg (800 lb.). 2. Remove bolt (4), washer (6) and yoke assembly (5) from the shaft. 3. Remove bearing cage (9) from the case assembly. Remove sleeve (7) and two O-ring seals (8) from sleeve (7). 4. Remove O-ring seal (12), lip-type seal (11) and bearing cup (10) from the bearing cage. 5. Turn the transfer gear case over on the opposite side. The weight of the assembly is 250 kg (550 lb.). Remove bolts (13) and brake drum (17) from flange (15). Remove bolt (14), washer (16) and flange (15) from the transfer gear assembly shaft. 6. Remove four bolts (18) and brake group assembly (19). 7. Remove bolts (20) that fasten cage (21) to the case housing. Use two 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws to remove cage (21) from the case housing. 8. Remove O-ring seal (23) and bearing cup (22) from cage (21). 9. Remove shims (24) and gear (25) from the case housing. 10. Remove retaining ring (26) from gear (25). 11. Remove bearing assemblies (27) from each side of gear (25) with tooling (B). 12. Remove bearing cup (28) from the case housing. 13. Put the case assembly in the vertical position, and attach a nylon strap and hoist to gear (29). Remove bolts (31), cage (30) and the shim pack. 14. Remove seal (33), bearing cup (32), O-ring seal (34) and shim pack (35) from cage (30). 15. Remove spacer (36) from shaft (37). 16. Use tooling (C) to remove bearing (38) and gear (29) from shaft (37). Remove gear (29) and shaft (37) from the case housing. 17. Use tooling (D) to remove bearing (39) from shaft (37). Assemble Transfer Gears
1. Install two O-ring seals (2) on sleeve (1). Install sleeve (1) in the transfer case. Put lubricant of the type to be sealed in the case bore. 2. Heat both shaft bearing cones (3) to 149°C (300°F) for approximately one hour, and install them on shaft (4) as shown. 3. Put gear (5) in transfer gear case, and install shaft (4). 4. Install bearing cone (3) on shaft (4). 5. Install the spacer on shaft (4). 6. Put 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material in the seal bore in cages (6) and (12), and let it dry. DO NOT put the gasket material on the lip seal case. Use tool group (B), and install the seal in cages (6) and (12) with the lip of the seal toward the inside as shown. 7. Lower the temperature of bearing cup (7), and install it in cage (6). Install O-ring seal (8) on cage (6). 8. Install two 3/8"-16 NC guide bolts (10) in the transfer
