Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic System Pressure - Release".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
High hydraulic system pressure. To avoid personal injury, do not remove any hydraulic system lines, taps, or parts until all pressure has been relieved.
Disconnect any attachment tools from the quick coupler assembly.

Fasten a suitable lifting device onto quick coupler (2) .
Disconnect hose assemblies (1) from quick coupler (2) .

Note: Note the location of washers (7) and (8) for assembly purposes.
Remove bolts (4), the washers, the spacers, and pin assemblies (3) from both sides of the quick coupler.
Remove bolts (5), the washers, the spacers, pin assemblies (6), and washers (7) and (8) from both sides of the quick coupler.
Remove the quick coupler from the machine. The weight of the quick coupler is approximately 156 kg (344 lb).Installation Procedure

A     5P-0960     Molybdenum Grease        Note: Ensure that the pin assemblies slide freely in the pin bores before assembly. Lubricate all the pin bores and the pin assemblies with Tooling (A) .
Use a suitable lifting device to position the quick coupler. Align the four pin bores. The weight of the quick coupler is approximately 156 kg (344 lb).

Install washers (7) and (8) and pin assemblies (6) in the pin bores on each side of the quick coupler. Make sure that washers (7) and (8) are installed in the original locations. If any parts have been replaced, add or subtract washers (7) and (8) so that the lift arms and lever assemblies are centered in the quick coupler. Install bolts (5), the washers, and the spacers.
Install pin assemblies (3), bolts (4), the washers, and the spacers onto both sides of the quick coupler.

Connect hose assemblies (1) onto quick coupler (2) .
