The adjustment for the fuel injector synchronization is used in order to ensure the proper fuel delivery of each individual injector. The fuel injectors must be correctly synchronized. The injectors are calibrated by using the trim screw for the injector so that proper fuel delivery is obtained. The trim screw is provided on the injectors in order to adjust the rack's zero point. Note: Do not adjust the trim screw. This should be done AT THE FACTORY ONLY.If a unit injector has a loose trim screw, the unit injector must be replaced with a calibrated unit injector. If a trim screw has been moved, the unit injector must be replaced with a calibrated unit injector. The fuel injector cannot be synchronized if the trim screw has been moved.Refer to Testing And Adjusting, "Fuel Injector Synchronization" for the proper procedure in order to synchronize the fuel injectors.The adjustment for the fuel injector synchronization must not be used for the following reasons:
Balancing out exhaust port temperatures
Increasing or decreasing power output
Increasing or decreasing individual peak cylinder pressuresUsing the fuel injector synchronization for the issues that are listed above can cause unstable engine operation or overloading of individual cylinders that can mask another problem and can lead to engine damage if the problem is not corrected.
