Repair Procedure
(1) Remove collets (1) and the bucket pins. Remove the bucket from the machine; see the Service Manual. (2) In each lift arm, drill a 8.7 mm Ø (.34" Ø) hole (D) through to the center of the lift arms shown above for each specific machine. Drill a 20 mm Ø (.79" Ø) hole (E) to 22 1.5 mm (.87" .06") in depth. Tap hole (D) with a 1/8"-27 tap, and install grease fitting (9). (3) Lower the temperature of bearings (2) and install the bearings in the bucket at each pin location as shown. Install bearings (3) in each lift arm. : Make sure the grease hole in bearing (3) is in alignment with the drilled hole in the lift arm. Tighten bolts (4). See the chart on page 3 for the correct part numbers for your machine. (4) Put pin assembly (5) in position through bearings (2). Install block (6), two bolts (7) and plate (8) on pin (5) as shown. Tack weld block (6) in position on the bucket at approximately the location shown. Remove plate (8) and the bucket pin. Make a 10.0 (.39") fillet weld along sides (F), (G) and (H) of block (6). (5) Put the bucket in position on the lift arms and install pins (5), plate (8) and bolts (7). Use multi-purpose grease as a lubricant in the pins. On 992C, do not install the bucket until after steps 6, 7 and 8, pages 6 and 7 have been done. (6) In each tilt link, drill a 8.7 mm Ø (.34" Ø) hole (J) through to the center of the tilt link at the dimension shown. Drill a 20 mm Ø (.79" Ø) hole (K) to 22 1.5 mm (.87" .06") in depth. Tap hole (J) with a 1/8"-27 tap, and install grease fitting (16). (7) On 992C machines, install upper pin bearings (10) in each side of the bucket. Install bearings (11) in the tilt links. : Make sure the grease hole in bearing (11) is in alignment with the drilled hole in the tilt link. Tighten bolts (17). (8) Put pins (15) in position through bearings (10). Assemble 8V914 Block (13), 8V915 Plate (18) and two 1J7370 Bolts on each pin (15). Tack weld blocks (16) to the bucket at approximately the location shown. Remove plate (18) and the pin and make a 10.0 (.39") fillet weld around blocks (13). Connect the bucket tilt links to the bucket with pins (12). Connect the lift arms to the bucket with a similar procedure.
