Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Remove bolts (1). Open doors (2) and (3) .

Remove clamps (4) and hoses (5) from each radiator core assembly (6). Remove bolts (7) from each radiator core assembly (6) .

Use a suitable pry bar to pry upward on the bottom of radiator core assembly (6). This unseats the radiator core assembly from the seal. Tilt the bottom of the radiator core assembly outward and slide the core downward in order to remove the core.

Remove seal (8) from tank assembly (9).
Repeat this procedure for each of the remaining radiator core assemblies.Installation Procedure

B     207-1600     Rubber Lubricant     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Apply Tooling (B) onto seal (8). Install seal (8) into tank assembly (9) .

Tilt the top of the radiator core assembly forward and place the radiator core assembly into the original position.
Use Tooling (A) to seat the radiator core assembly into the seal.

Install bolts (7) on radiator core assembly (6). Install hoses (5) and clamps (4) on radiator core assembly (6) .
Repeat the above procedure for each of the remaining radiator core assemblies.

Close doors (2) and (3). Install bolts (1) .
Fill the cooling system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
