The fender group on earlier machines can be updated to the new parts. Use the following procedure in order to update the fender group on the earlier machines.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Either keep other personnel away from the machine, or keep other personnel in the sight of the operator.
Move the machine to a smooth horizontal location. Move the machine away from any machines that are working and any personnel.
Move the transmission control to the PARK position.
Activate the parking brakes. Stop the engine.
Place blocks in front of the wheels and behind the wheels.

Remove the mud deflectors (20) from both sides of the front of the machine. Discard the mud deflectors. Save the 32 bolts, the 64 washers and the 32 nuts.
Remove the bracket (21) from the left side of the machine. Discard the bracket, the bolts and the hard washers.
Remove the bracket (22) from the right side of the machine. Discard the bracket, the bolts and the hard washers.

By using the four bolts (7) and the four hard washers (8), install the bracket (9) to the machine.

By using the four bolts (7) and the four hard washers (8), install the bracket (10) to the machine.
By using one plate (2) as a template, drill six additional holes into the left fender and the right fender.
By using one plate (2) on the top and one plate (6) on the bottom, install one new mud deflectors (1) to both sides of the machine. Attach plates (2) and plates (6) to the fenders with the original hardware that was saved in Step 6. Use 18 bolts (3), 36 washers (4) and 18 nuts (5) in order to attach mud deflectors to the machine.

Locate the position for the boss (11) on the back surface of the right platform. Measure down 99 mm (3.9 inch) from the top surface (23) of the platform. Measure toward the center of the machine 244 mm (9.6 inch) from the right edge (24) of the platform
Prepare the area for welding. For the proper procedure, refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures".
By applying a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld around boss (11), weld the boss to the back surface of the right platform.The weld must meet the following specifications: AWS A5.1 E7018, AWS A5.18 ER70S-2, AWS A5.18 ER70S-3, AWS A5.18 ER70S-6, AWS A5.18 ER70C-6M, AWS A5.20 E70T-1, AWS A5.20 E70T-5, AWS A5.20 E71T-1, AWS A5.17 F7A2-EM12K and AWS A5.17 F7A2-EM13K
Clean the weld and inspect the weld. For additional information on the inspection of the weld, refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures".
Apply one coat of primer paint (18) to the area. Allow the paint to dry.
