Locate 114-5012 Guard Assembly (5). Refer to Illustration 34. Weld the guard assemblies in place to the following parameters.Note: The one guard assembly on the taconite body is located at an angle.Make a 4 mm (0.16 inch) bevel groove weld (J) across the top of the guard assembly (two places).Make a 4 mm (0.16 inch) skip fillet weld that is 50 mm (2 inch) long. Make this weld at location (K) across the bottom of the body (two places).Make a 4 mm (0.16 inch) fillet weld (L) across the sides (four places).Installation of the Body Down Indicator and the Left Canopy Guard Assembly

Locate 8X-6394 Plate Assembly (1). Locate the body down indicator and make a 3 mm (0.12 inch) fillet weld. Refer to Illustration 35.
Install 8X-6365 Baffle with two 8X-6366 Plates and four 9B-7237 Bolts to the plate assembly.Note: The parts that are listed in Step 2 are from the 154-3757 Truck Body Mounting Gp.
Install 8W-3667 Left Guard Assembly to the canopy with a 4 mm (0.16 inch) bevel groove weld. Refer to Illustration 35 for dimensions at location (D). Make a 4 mm (0.16 inch) fillet weld across the bottom (two plates). Use a skip fillet weld 50 mm (2 inch) across the bottom of guard at location (E).Assembly Procedure for the Body (Upright)

Remove all guides and grind the area smooth. Make a 12 mm (0.47 inch) bevel groove weld that is flush. Weld on the front of the body at location (S) (both sides). Make a 20 mm (0.78 inch) bevel groove weld that is flush on the bottom at location (T) (both sides).Note: Weld (S) and weld (T) must be flush so the body liner (if equipped) will fit flat.

Remove the pipes for shipment. Grind the area smooth.

Install a 5T-7105 Plate with a 14 mm (0.55 inch) bevel groove weld. Install the plates at locations (U) (two plates). Make a 16 mm (0.63 inch) square groove weld at location (V) (2 plates). The plates may need trimming.Miscellaneous
Remove all lifting eyes, alignment blocks, lugs, stiffeners, and braces from the truck body if shipping is not required. Before removing the lifting eyes from the side walls, examine the truck body. Earlier models of the truck body did not contain lifting eyes manufactured in the upper portion of the side walls. Do not remove the lifting eyes from truck bodies that do not contain lifting eyes in the upper portion of the side walls. The lifting eyes on the side walls will be needed to assemble the truck body to the chassis. Grind the welds smooth prior to touch up painting and installation to the chassis.Note: If the body is shipped, some lugs or lifting eyes may be needed for tie-downs.
