Information:

A switch on the right panel causes injection of ether into the intake manifold. A thermal switch prevents ether injection if the coolant temperature is above 38°C (100°F). The only service necessary is replacement of the canister when it is empty. 7N296 Ether Cylinder is used and is available separately from your Caterpillar Dealer.7V4134 Ether Starting Aid Group
(1) Fasten 7N2059 Clamp (1) and 6N7674 Valve Assembly (2) to the frame with S1617 Bolts and 9M1974 Washers. Connect wires (3) to purple wires (4) of the existing wiring harness. (2) Put 9S7580 Connector (5) in valve (2) and fasten 7V4132 Tube (6) to connector (5). Fasten tube (6) to the frame with the existing bolts, three 6S5992 Clips (7) and 4D623 Grommets. Connect 7V4133 Tube (8) to tube (6) with 9S7584 Union (9). Fasten the tubes with 9M7173 Clips (10) and 4D623 Grommets and fasten tube (6) to existing lines with three 7K1181 Straps (11). (3) Remove the manifold plug and install 9G4340 Nozzle (12) so the orifice is in line with the manifold (chisel marks (13) are in line with the orifice). Put 9S7696 Elbow (14) in nozzle (12) and connect tube (8); fasten tube (8) with 9M7173 Clips (10), 4D623 Grommets and two 9S2087 Screws. (4) Remove the plug and install 6N5899 Temperature Switch (15). Connect wire (16) of the existing harness (17) to switch (15). (5) Remove plug (18) and cover (19) and install 7V5714 Switch Assembly (20); connect the black/light blue and purple wires of wire assembly (21) from the existing wiring harness to switch (20). Install cover (19). (6) Install a 7N291 Ether Cylinder to valve (2). Put 2V1713 Tag on switch (20).5V7528 Ether Aid Starting Group
(1) Fasten 7N2059 Clamp (1) and 6N7674 Valve Assembly (2) to the frame with 1C569 Bolts and 5P4116 Washers. Connect wires (3) to purple wires (4) of the existing wiring harness. (2) Put 9S7580 Connector (5) in valve (2); install 7V1071 Tube Assembly (6) to connector (5). Fasten tube (6) to the frame with 6S5992 Clips (7), 4D623 Grommets, 1C569 Bolts and 5P4116 Washers. (3) Remove the manifold plug and install 9G4340 Nozzle (8) so the orifice is in line with the manifold (chisel marks (9) are in line with the orifice). Put 9S7580 Connector (10) in nozzle (8) and install 7V1070 Tube Assembly (11) to connector (10) and to tube (6) with 9S7584 Union (12); fasten tube (6) with 6S5992 Clips (7) and 4D623 Grommets; use 1C596 Bolt and 5P4116 Washer to fasten the clip to the frame. (4) Remove the plug from the side of the block and install 6N5899 Temperature Switch (13); connect purple wire (14) from the existing harness to switch (13). (5) Remove plug (15) and cover (16) and install 4V9040 Switch Assembly (17); connect red/tan stripe and purple wires (18) from the existing wiring harness to switch (17). Install cover (16). (6) Install 7N296 Ether Cylinder (19) to valve (2). Put 2V1713 Tag on switch (17).
