1. Remove air cleaner elbow and support assembly.2. Remove the six bolts that hold rocker shaft assembly to the cylinder head.3. Remove rocker shaft assembly (1).4. Remove push rods (2).Install Rocker Shaft And Push Rods
1. Install the push rods.2. Put 5P3931 Anti-Seize Compound on the threads of bolts for rocker shaft.3. Put the rocker shaft into position on cylinder head and push rods. Install the bolts and washers.
The dowel pins (1) on each end of rocker shaft and arms must be in alignment with holes (2) in cylinder head. If the pins and holes are not in alignment when bolts are tightened, damage to the rocker shaft and arms can be the result.
4. Tighten the bolts 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in number sequence shown as follows: a) Tighten the bolts in number sequence to 115 lb.ft. (155 N m).b) Tighten the bolts in number sequence to 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m).c) Tighten the bolts again (hand torque only) in number sequence to 185 13 lb.ft. (250 17 N m).5. Make an adjustment to the rocker arms so the clearance for inlet valves will be .015 in. (0.38 mm) and the clearance for exhaust valves will be .025 in. (0.64 mm).6. Install the elbow and support assembly for the air cleaner.end by:a) install valve coverb) install hood
