To prevent personal injury when checks are made while the machine is in operation, make sure only approved personnel are on the machine. Keep other personnel off the machine and in view of the operator. Make sure checks are done in an open area.
Note: Use the information in the reference to prepare the machine for this test.ReferenceFor the correct procedure to prepare the machine for this test, refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.ReferenceRefer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" for engine rpm, hydraulic test pressures, and implement cycle times.
Make sure that the machine is resting on a smooth, level surface. The machine should be moved away from other operating machines and away from personnel.
Permit only one operator on the machine. Keep other personnel away from the machine or in the operators sight.
Lower the work tool to the ground when you are not testing the work tool.
Warm the hydraulic oil to normal operating temperature. Normal operating temperature is 54° C (130° F) to 60° C (140° F). Use the following procedure in order to warm the hydraulic oil.
Operate the engine at high RPM.
Ensure that the parking brake is engaged and the door is closed. Press the "Arming" switch on the console in order to Arm the hydraulics.
Operate the lift/tilt cylinders until you reach the normal operating temperature.
Continue to operate the engine at high idle.
Perform the following steps in order to test the operating speed of the steering cylinders.
Fully articulate the machine to the right. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to steer the machine to full left.
Fully articulate the machine to the left. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to steer the machine to full right.
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" for the "Implement Cycle Times" of the steering cylinders.
Use the following steps in order to test the operating speed of the gather cylinders.
Open the gather arms. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to extend the gather arm cylinders fully.
Close the gather arms. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to retract the gather arm cylinders fully.
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" for the "Implement Cycle Times" of the gather arm cylinders.
Use the following steps in order to test the operating speed of the bunching arm cylinders.
Open the bunching arms. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to extend the bunching arm cylinders fully.
Close the bunching arms. With a stopwatch, measure the time that is required to retract the bunching arm cylinders fully.
Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Pressure Charts" for the "Implement Cycle Times" of the bunching arm cylinders.
Reduce the engine speed to low idle. Press the "Arming" switch on the console do Disarm the hydraulics.
If the travel times are not correct, check the following conditions.
IQAN settings
Check the current signal from the IQAN
Check the auxiliary pump flow.
Check the line relief valves in the control valves.
Check the valve spools in the control valves.
Check the piston
