A 1P-1853 Retaining Ring Pliers 1 Start By:
Remove the air control valve (service brake). Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Air Control Valve (Service Brake) - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Sudden release of spring force can cause injury.To prevent the possibility of injury, follow the procedure to relieve the spring pressure.
Note: Put identification marks on all hoses, on all hose assemblies, on all wires, and on all tube assemblies for installation purposes. Plug all hose assemblies and all tube assemblies. This helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.

Remove cotter pin (1), pin (2), and lever (3) from the air control valve.

Remove three bolts (6). Remove the washers, bracket and brake valve plate (5), and shim (4) from the air control valve.

Remove plunger (7) from bracket and brake valve plate (5). Remove rubber boot (8) from bracket and brake valve plate (5) .

Remove bolts (10), the washers, and control valve assembly (9) from the air control valve.

Remove O-ring seal (11) from control valve assembly (9).
Remove screws (15), the washers, and valve exhaust elbow (14) from control valve group (9) .
Remove inlet and exhaust valve (13) from control valve group (9) .
Remove O-ring seal (12) from control valve group (9) .

Firmly hold nut (25) and piston (16). Slowly remove nut (25), cover (24), and spring (23) from the air control valve.
Remove piston (20) and piston (16) from the air control valve.
Remove the screw and retaining washer (19) from piston (16) .
Remove O-ring seal (18) from piston (16) .
Remove O-ring seal (22) from piston (20) .
Remove large springs (17) and (21) from the air control valve.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove snap ring (28) and inlet and exhaust valve (27) from the air control valve.
Remove O-ring seal (26) from inlet and exhaust valve (27) .
