Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove crankshaft from the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Remove" for the correct procedure.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Place crankshaft (1) onto suitable support.
Use a suitable tool in order to remove balancer drive gear (2) from crankshaft (1). Installation Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Ensure that all components of the balancer drive gear (2) and the crankshaft (1) are clean and free from wear and damage. Replace any components that are worn or damaged.
Hot parts or hot components can cause burns or personal injury. Do not allow hot parts or components to contact your skin. Use protective clothing or protective equipment to protect your skin.
In order to prevent damage to the balancer drive gear, do not heat the balancer drive gear above 150° C (302° F).
Use Tooling (A) in order to heat a new balancer drive gear (2) to a temperature of 100° 150°C (180° 270°F). Note: Do not use a torch to the heat the balancer drive gear.
Install balancer drive gear (2) to crankshaft (1). Ensure that the new gear is correctly seated against the crankshaft in Position (X). End By:
Install crankshaft to the engine. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Crankshaft - Install" for the correct procedure.
