Information:
(1) Remove the former wrap-around cutting edge. When installed, the replacement edge should be in approximately the same location as the former edge.(2) Cut the center section, dimension (A) plus 3.00" (76), from the replacement cutting edge. If the edge is adaptable for teeth, cut the edge so the maximum number of holes possible are in the center. Keep a minimum distance of 3.00" (76) on the two-hole type edges and of 2.25" (57) on the three-hole type edges between the inside of the bucket, area (D), and the centerline (C/L) of the first hole or holes on each end of the edge.(3) Using E7018 electrodes for all welding, center and tack weld the new edge to the bucket. Keep a .06" (1,5) opening between the edge and bucket. Dimension (E) should be the same, 1.50" (38), at both ends of the edge.(4) Make a copy of the areas for the new corners. Using the copy as a guide, cut out the corners from the two end sections of the replacement cutting edge.(5) Cut the bevels in the lower edge of the corner. Cut section F-F .38" x 45° (10 x 45°) on the 1.00" (25) thick corner or .50" x 45° (13 x 45°) on the 1.25" (32) thick corner. Position the corners in the bucket, even with the inside of the bucket, to find the location and size of the 45° bevels to be cut in the top, section G-G, and back, section H-H, of the corner. Remove enough material from the corners so that the weld groove includes 75% of the cutting bar or side plate. If the thickness of the cutting bars or side plates is the same dimension as the corners, cut the bevels in the corners to make available weld grooves like section F-F.(6) Position the corners using .09"Ø (Ø2,3) soft iron wire (1) between the bottom of the corner and the cutting edge. Keep a .06" (1,5) opening between the corners and the bucket. Tack weld the corners in place.(7) Using E7018 electrodes, weld the top and bottom of the cutting edge to the bucket. Weld from the center of the bucket out in the order seen in the illustration to do away with distortion. Clean the welds.(8) Weld the corners in place. Do not let the cutting edge temperature go over 800°F(427°C). Check with a Tempilstik or a similar type crayon.(9) Heat the complete cutting edge weld to 400°F(204°C). Put an asbestos cover over the cutting edge and let cool slowly.
