The hydraulic system is under pressure. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure from the hydraulic system before any lines are disconnected. Also make sure the bulldozer blade is level and on the ground before the tilt and tip cylinders are removed.
1. Remove the bolts and nuts to remove guard assembly (1) from the tilt cylinder. 2. Fasten a hoist to tilt cylinder (2) as shown. 3. Remove the bolts and nuts to remove cap (3) and the shims from the tilt cylinder rod. 4. Retract the tilt cylinder rod away from the trunnion assembly on the bulldozer blade.5. Make sure the pressure is released from the hydraulic system and disconnect oil hoses (4) and (5) from the tilt cylinder. 6. Remove cotter pin (6) and pin (8) to remove pin (7) from the tilt cylinder and the bulldozer push arm.7. Remove tilt cylinder (2) from the bulldozer push arm. The weight of the cylinder is 109 kg (240 lb.).8. Do Steps 1 through 7 again to remove the tip cylinder. The tip and tilt cylinders have the same weight.Install Tilt And Tip Cylinders
1. Put tilt cylinder (1) in position on the bulldozer push arm. Install pin (2) through the bulldozer push arm and the end of the tilt cylinder. 2. Install pin (4) and cotter pin (3) to hold pin (2) in position. 3. Connect two oil hoses (5) and (6) to the tilt cylinder. 4. Extend the tilt cylinder rod until it is in position against the trunnion assembly on the bulldozer blade.5. Put cap (7) and the original shims (8) in position on the end of the tilt cylinder rod and install the bolts, nuts and lockwashers to hold the cap. Tighten the nuts and bolts to a torque of 360 47 N m (265 35 lb.ft.). 6. Install guard assembly (9) and the bolts and nuts to hold it to the tilt cylinder.7. Do Steps 1 through 6 again to install tip cylinder.Disassemble Tilt And Tip Cylinders
1. Fasten a hoist to the cylinder and install cylinder (1) on tooling (A) as shown. The weight of cylinder (1) is 109 kg (240 lb.). 2. Slowly extend piston rod (2) until it is fully extended. 3. Install support (3) and strap (4) on piston rod in position as shown. 4. Remove bolts (5) from the cylinder head. Remove piston rod and head from the cylinder. 5. Install tooling (B) and remove nut and washer from the piston rod. 6. Remove piston (6) from piston rod. 7. Remove two seal assemblies (7) and wear ring (8) from piston (6). 8. Remove head (9) from the piston rod. 9. Remove O-ring seal (10) and backup ring from behind O-ring seal. 10. Remove bolts (12) to remove retainer (11) and shims. 11. Remove lip seal (13) from retainer. 12. Remove packing (14) from the head.13. Remove bearing from cylinder arm with tooling (C).Assemble Tilt And Tip Cylinders
1. Use tooling (B) to install bearing in cylinder arm.
