A     185-3630     Strap Wrench As     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before you begin the removal procedure, the exterior of the components should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Refer to Step 2 for applications with a Filter Cartridge.

Spin-On Filter
Use Tooling (A) in order to remove filter assembly (1) and the O-ring seal. Remove bolts (3) and remove cover (2) .

Filter Cartridge
Remove housing (4) , filter element (5) , and the O-ring seal. Remove bolts (3) and remove cover (2) .

Remove O-ring seals (6) and (7) . Disconnect harness assembly (8) . Remove pressure switch assembly (10) and the O-ring seals. Remove filter adapter (9) and the O-ring seal for the Spin-On Filter.

Remove filter stud (12) . Remove bolts (13) and remove adapter assembly (11) .

B     154-9731     Thread Lock Compound     1    Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before assembly, thoroughly clean all parts in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Do not use wiping cloths or rags to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement. Dirt and other contaminants can damage the precision component. Perform assembly procedures on a clean work surface. Keep components covered and protected at all times.Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

Install O-ring seals (14) .

Position adapter assembly (11) . Install bolts (13) . Tighten bolts (13) to a torque of 28 7 N m (21 5 lb ft).
Apply Tooling (B) to filter stud (12) . Install filter stud (12) 14 mm (0.55 inch) into adapter assembly (11) . Tighten filter stud (12) to a torque of 100 20 N m (75 15 lb ft).

Install the O-ring seal to filter adapter (9) . Install filter adapter (9) for the Spin-On Filter.
Install pressure switch assembly (10) and the O-ring seals. Tighten pressure switch assembly (10) to a torque of 12 3 N m (106 27 lb in). Connect harness assembly
