Use Tooling (C) to install nuts (2).
Use Tooling (F) to measure the backlash of bevel gear (4).
Adjust nuts (2) to achieve a backlash of 0.29 0.04 mm (0.011 0.002 inch).Set preload on nuts (2) for carrier to achieve rolling torque of .70 N m (6 lb in) more than the previously measured pinion rolling torque.

Install the axle housing. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Axle Housing (Differential and Bevel Gear) (Rear) - Install".
Install the parking brake. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Parking Brake - Remove and Install".
Install the axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rear Axle - Install".
