Adjust nut (9) on the hook until the handle takes 18.14 4.54 kg (40 10 lb) of force in order to secure the latch handle onto the support arm in the ENGAGED position. Adjust the nut by taking the hook off the pin and pulling the nut into the captive area on the clevis and turning the hook. The hook can be turned with a wrench or the hook can be turned with the handle on the lock pin (10) for the boom. Refer to illustration 14 for use of lock pin. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transport Position" for the location of the lock pin for the boom.
Repeat the process for the other side. Recheck the handle on the side that was tightened first. Make sure that the handle still requires 18.14 4.54 kg (40 10 lb) of force in order to engage.
Test the backhoe for leaks and for proper operation.
Do not perform a backdragging operation in order to ensure that the pins are engaged. If the backhoe is not properly coupled, performing a backdragging operation may result in personal injury or death. Ensure proper coupler pin engagement using visual inspection methods.
Removing the Work Tool
Disengaging the coupler pins will release the work tool from control of the operator.Serious injury or death may result from disengaging the work tool when the work tool is in an unstable position or carrying a load.Place the work tool in a stable position before disengaging the coupler pins.
Auxiliary hoses for work tools must be disconnected before the Hydraulic Quick Coupler is disengaged.Pulling the work tool with the auxiliary hoses could result in damage to the host machine or the work tool.
The Backhoe and SSL/MTL/CTL should be positioned on the same level. Position the backhoe on a firm surface.
Lower the lift arms. Rack back the coupler. Extend the stick fully. Position the work tool in the appropriate position. Move the boom down in order to lift the SSL/MTL/CTL slightly of the ground. Lifting the machine off the ground will relieve the load on the latches. Note: This procedure will allow an easy installation for the next use.
Turn the machine OFF. Move controls to the STORED position.
Exit the machine.

Rotate hook (6) upward away from pin (7). Place the hook in the STORED position. Perform this operation for both link arms.
Enter the machine and start the engine. Remove the parking brake. Energize the backhoe. Refer to the Operations and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7960, "Operation"
