Remove & Install Crankshaft Vibration Damper & Pulley
Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Contaminants put into the system may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Remove bolt (1) and washer (2).2. Put enough spacers (3) on bolt (1) to obtain 3.18 mm (.125 in)clearance between washer (2) and the crankshaft.3. Install bolt (1), washer (2) and spacer (3).
If spacers (3) are not used, damage to the bolt and/or crankshaft can result when the vibration damper and pulley are removed from the crankshaft.
4. Remove six bolts and washers (5).5. Remove adapter ring (6) and vibration damper (4). 6. Install Tool (A) as shown, and loosen pulley assembly (7).7. Remove Tool (A), bolt (1), washer (2), spacers (3). Remove pulley assembly (7). The following steps are for the installation of the vibration damper and pulley Inspect the vibration damper for leakage or dents. If either condition exists, replace the vibration damper. 8. Install vibration damper (4) on pulley (7).9. Install adapter ring (6) and six bolts (5).10. Install the vibration damper and pulley assembly. Install bolt (1) and washer (2).
The flat side of washer (2) must be installed facing toward the vibration damper and pulley assembly.
11. Tighten bolt (1) to a torque of 290 to 340 N m (210 to 250 lb ft). Hit bolt (1) with a hammer and tighten again to a torque of 290 to 340 N m (210 to 250 lb ft).
