Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame Lock - Separate and Connect".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Open the engine hood.

Use Tooling (A) in order to remove engine oil filter (1) .
Disconnect the turbocharger inlet tube (4) from the engine oil filter base (3) .
Remove bolts (2) and the washers that hold engine oil filter base (3) to the cylinder block.
Remove engine oil filter base (3) and the gasket.Note: For information on the reusability of the engine oil cooler, refer to Guideline For Reusable Parts And Salvage Operations, SEBF8077, "Engine Oil Coolers".

Remove engine oil cooler (5) and the gasket.

Remove the two O-ring seals (6) .
